I have experience designing, deploying, teaching, and assessing learning programs and curricula for adult learners.
While this work belongs to my former employers and is not able to be shared publicly, scroll down to learn more about a few of the projects I’ve led.
Bloom Institute of Technology
2020 - 2021
BloomTech (formerly Lambda School) is an online web development and data science program that embeds real-world projects and career readiness into the curriculum, ensuring students graduate ready to secure a job in their field. Students have the option to pay nothing up front, only repaying tuition interest-free after they have secured a job.
Founded in 2017, I joined the team in March 2019, shortly after they raised Series B. I led career and professional development program operations, overseeing the only function in the school that supported students from admission through post-graduation.
Results snapshot
Nearly 4x increase in students completing content over ~4 months
87% of learners rated the content as “very helpful” or “extremely helpful”
Reduced time to “job search-ready” from 4 weeks to <1 week post-graduation
Project description
Redesign career curriculum model to more closely align with technical curriculum, uphold greater accountability for students, provide greater insight into student career readiness, and ensure all students graduate ready to job search.
9-month project involved creating prerecorded content, written supplements, lesson plans, and assessments spanning six program units. Support functions, like instructor and student success SOPs, data collection and reporting, and instructor trainings were also required.
Northeastern University
2021 - 2022
Northeastern is a research institution that emphasizes experiential learning as a core part of their academic model. There are 14 campuses across the US, Canada, and the UK.
The Bay Area campus was launched in 2013, with career support being run out of the main Boston campus. As the Bay Area student body grew, there was a growing need for dedicated regional career and experiential learning support. I was hired to found that team and lead that effort.
Results snapshot
More than triple the number of students used career support after program launch vs before
Used pilot feedback to drive program improvements, increasing attendance at winter orientation
Project description
Design a comprehensive, region-specific career and experiential learning model to prepare Bay Area students for post-graduate careers.
8-month project involved creating a self-serve resource center, biweekly workshops, self-paced/async coursework, office hours, monthly partner/employer events, and regular communications (email, LinkedIn, and embedded in college/student services comms).
Udacity
2019
Udacity is a global e-learning and upskilling platform with a mission of democratizing education. Their courses help individuals build in-demand technical skills through stackable micro credentials called Nanodegrees.
I joined the team as one of three scholarship community managers who launched some of Udacity’s first scholarship partnerships with Google and Bertelsmann. I was responsible for creating a cohesive student experience while driving towards key graduation metrics.
Results snapshot
Orientation pulled best practices from scholarship programs that had doubled baseline graduation rates
Streamlined onboarding saved an average of 5 hours/week
Project description
Build orientation curriculum for all students to streamline student onboarding and create a consistent brand experience
3-month project involved partnering with the media team to script, film, and edit orientation content, the product team to embed content into dozens of existing programs, and the community team to document best practices and developed unified messaging.
