Recipes on the Road

I love to cook, and I especially love to bake. Not having a proper kitchen for a full year was the only thing I wasn’t looking forward to about living on the road. But even more than I love to cook and bake, I love to eat, so eating poorly for a year was just not going to be an option.

These recipes are favorites for life on the road, and are easy to pull together with minimal equipment: a 2-burner camp stove, a quality pan (cast iron or carbon steel), a 2 qt. saucepan/pot, knives (chef’s, serrated, and paring), a cutting board, a spatula, wooden spoons, a can opener, a cheese grater, measuring spoons/cups, plates/bowls, and utensils.

  • One-pan Meals

Extra dishes are a pain, and during travel periods when we’re covering a lot of ground, these quick meals are our priority.

  • Soups

Soups are one of the best meals to make on the road. They’re easy to make, filling, and usually economical.

  • Desserts / Sweets

I might not have an oven, but that doesn’t mean I’m giving up dessert for a whole year!
